Brad Hogg Steer Melbourne Renegades To A Win, Melbourne Renegades defeated Melbourne Stars by seven wickets in a rain-marred game in BBL 2017. In a rain-marred match between the two teams, Melbourne Renegades shocked everyone by sending Sunil Narine to open the match innings, and the risk paid off well as he played an innings of 21 runs off just 13 Balls. To take a minute, he had the excellent strike-rate for his side (161.53).
Narine gave a decent start to the team, giving 38 runs for the first wicket before being out. After his wicket, captain Aaron Finch took command as Stars motored along. Still, it was his innings of 64* by Cameron White that made the contrast in the end. The addition of 36 runs from Tom Copper at a rate of 144.00 was also of most importance for the team which supported them put up a big sum on the board.
Just like Renegades, Melbourne too performed a risk by sending in Maxwell to open the innings, but it was a failed effort as he was dismissed with a score of 1. Kevin Pietersen arrived from commentary box to the playing court, but he too failed to make a departure as he just made the addition of 15. Regular wickets by Renegades bowlers and 3 crucial run-outs while the later part of the game helped Renegades to win the match at the end of the day.
Brad Hogg was given the Man of the Match award for taking 3 crucial wickets in the match.
